Dance Studio Policy
MISSED CLASSES: There are no reductions for holidays or missed classes. Missed classes can be made up within 2 months of the day of the absences. You must notify the studio of both absences and make-ups. At the Director’s discretion, you may be asked not to participate in the recital if you have excessive absences. There are no refunds or transfers of money once it has been paid.
STUDENT PLACEMENT: Proper placement in dance classes will be strictly enforced. The student will be placed in the proper class during the month of September. Placement will be solely at the discretion of the director and teachers. Those students that have had previous training will be evaluated and placed in a class with other students who have achieved the same level of accomplishments. A class may be canceled if enrollment falls below four students.
DRESS CODE: Proper clothing and shoes must be worn in all classes. Students’ hair must be worn in a ponytail or bun. No sweatshirts or other baggy clothing can be worn at anytime. Also, no jewelry is permitted in class for students’ safety. Each teacher has his/her own dress code, which must be adhered to as well as the dress code of the studio. A student may be asked not to participate in class if not properly prepared. Outside shoes cannot be worn in the classrooms.
RECITAL: An annual recital will be given at the close of the school year. Participation is strictly voluntary. It offers the student a chance to display their achievements over the past 10 months. It is looked upon as the Finishing touch and an exciting learning experience. Excessive absences may prevent a student from participating in the recital. Important information regarding this show will be posted at the studio and given out. One Company Parent or guardian must volunteer to work backstage at our recital. Show volunteers will be placed where needed at the Director’s discretion. Volunteers will also be required to attend a mandatory meeting prior to the recital. Information regarding Ticket Sales, Dates and Location for the Annual Recital will be posted at a later date. Dress rehearsal is mandatory for all students.
STUDIO CLOSINGS: Revelations Dance Center follows the Sachem School District Calendar. Please see the enclosed list of closings. If we are forced to close due to bad weather, it is suggested to call one-half hour before your child’s scheduled class. These classes may be made up but there will be no refunds of any kind.
COSTUMES: Your costume deposit of 50% per costume is due by November 1st. All remaining balances are due by February 1st. There will be a 10% late fee added to any outstanding balances after February 28th. Once a costume is ordered, the balance must be paid whether or not the student continues classes or participates in the recital.
PHOTOGRAPHY: For the convenience of all the students, we provide professional photographers to take their picture at the studio. Every student participating in the show will be required to appear on photo day for his or her class picture. Individual pictures are not mandatory.
TUITION: Our tuition is based on an annual fee and is divided into 10 equal payments. All payments must be made to allow your child to participate in the June recital. Checks are to be made out to REVELATIONS DANCE CENTER. Tuition is due on the first week of the month. A $15 late fee will be added to your tuition if it is not paid by the 15th of the month. There will be a service fee of $35 for any returned check from the bank. Second episode; ONLY CASH will be accepted. Any student owing more than two months tuition will not be able to participate in class. Competition Policy
Attendance: All Competition Classes/Rehearsals are mandatory. You will be allowed 3 absences per competition year. If you know you will be absent on a certain day/class, please notify the office staff as well as your instructor. Excused absences include; illness, death in family, religious event and school activity. All absences must be made up within 2 months. Failure to do so may result in dismissal from company. It will be the student’s responsibility to schedule make-ups.
Classes: All company members must take one Ballet class and one Leaps and Turns class in addition to class(es) they wish to compete with. This includes solos and duets.
Rehearsals: When extra rehearsals are called, you are required to attend. Failure to do so can result in termination from the particular company.
Behavior: Each month competition members will receive a progress report from each teacher, which will include behavior, attitude, attendance, attire, and technique. If they reach more than three reports with a score of 80% or under, it will be at the director’s discretion what further action will occur, i.e. parent/teacher meeting or dismissal. Soloists/duets must call 2 hr. before scheduled rehearsal if they are going to miss or will be responsible for payment. If a child is disruptive in class, they will be asked to leave. This class will need to be made up. Also, if any problems arise at the studio involving any student or parent, I will call a meeting to resolve any conflict that may arise. Let’s try to avoid this and keep things enjoyable for all that participate.
Choreography: All students are responsible for knowing their choreography. If a student is absent, they must get together with another student and learn what they have missed.
Fundraising: All Competition Company Students are required to participate in at least three fundraising events.
Competition Attire: All Competition Company Students are required to purchase a warm-up suit. Order forms will be available at the front desk in the fall. (Fundraising earnings may be applied to this purchase.)
Jewelry: All lyrical/jazz company members are required to purchase a jewelry package. Each student will be purchasing these separately online simply by following the directions on the attached form. (Must be purchased by November 1, 2010)
